Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche indicates that a duo might temporarily leave the club to get match practice.

Frankfurt – The preparations for the 2023/24 season are over, the competitive game will start next weekend. In the first round of the DFB Cup, Eintracht Frankfurt will face Northeast regional league club 1. FC Lok Leipzig. In the duel with the four-league team, the Adler are big favorites, but head coach Dino Toppmöller’s team must not underestimate their opponents.

Eintracht Frankfurt goalless once morest Nottingham

Before the first competitive game, the SBU completed the last test once morest Nottingham Forest. In the end there was a goalless draw, in which the defense was particularly convincing. “In 90 minutes we didn’t allow almost anything. The fans gave us great support, but unfortunately we haven’t been able to give them a goal yet. It feels great to be back here. I feel very comfortable here and had goosebumps when I warmed up,” said Toppmöller following the game.

Rafael Borré, who will probably leave Eintracht Frankfurt soon, Faride Alidou and Igor Matanovic were missing. The two youngsters might be loaned out, as sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed following the game once morest Nottingham: “There are interested parties. This is a loan. Both have done very well in preparation and now they should gain match practice.”

Those responsible see great potential in Alidou and Matanovic, but in the upcoming season there shouldn’t be much playing time at Eintracht Frankfurt, because apparently it’s not quite enough for the Bundesliga. A temporary move to the 2nd Bundesliga or abroad seems to be the most likely option for the attacking duo.

Eintracht Frankfurt plans loan from Duo

Faride Alidou came to Main from Hamburger SV on a free transfer last summer and played 21 competitive games last season. However, he was never in the starting XI. His only goal in the jersey with the eagle on the chest came in the Champions League match at Tottenham Hotspur.

Igor Matanovic was signed by Eintracht Frankfurt from FC St. Pauli in 2021, but was immediately loaned to his old club for two years. At the start of the preparation, the attacker hit the Main for the first time and was able to convince. Like Alidou, he should gather a season’s match practice and then launch another attack on a squad place at the SBU next year. (smr)
