The Appenzell native celebrates her second medal win at the Cycling World Championships in Glasgow.
Para-athlete Franziska Matile-Dörig scooped her second medal at the Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. The 31-year-old from Appenzell won bronze in the Omnium.
“I knew I had to give my best to make it onto the podium – and I did it. I gave everything mentally and physically,” said a beaming Matile-Dörig following her sense of achievement.
The Swiss collected 36 points in her effort. Australia’s Erin Normoyle became world champion with 40 points, silver went to Anna Grace Taylor from New Zealand. Kaya Kern, the second Swiss at the start, came in 11th with 20 points.
Dörig had already been able to celebrate precious metal on Friday. In the C4 category scratch race, she came in second by a razor-thin margin.
