Rising Football Star Noah Darvich: From U17 European Champion to FC Barcelona’s Next Sensation

When the ball lands at Noah Darvich, the observers are regularly amazed. The 16-year-old, who led the German U17s to the title as captain at the European Championships in June, stands out with his fine technique, a high degree of game intelligence and elegant ball control. His hooks with his strong left foot are almost impossible to defend for the opposing defenders.

When the U17s travel to Indonesia for the World Cup in November, Darvich will want to celebrate his next triumph.

But that won’t happen once more – much to the regret of coach Christian Streich – as a player at SC Freiburg. The top talent has decided to take the step to the glorious FC Barcelona, only the medical check is pending.

It was a long process, following all Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City also vied for the favor of the attacking midfielder. It was above all the Catalans’ concept that made him decide to move to Spain.

Barcelona don’t have a player who has this profile in their attacking midfield position, neither in youth nor in the second team or in the professional area. Coach Xavi sees Darvich as an exceptional talent who brings a lot with him and who should gradually be introduced to the football of the proud traditional club.

Born in Freiburg, he will initially play mainly in the second team, but he should also get a taste of things at the top at times. By the summer of 2024 at the latest, that’s the current plan, Xavi wants to have it all with him. Darvich knows he has a big opportunity and has worked hard for it since he was young. He is very mature, clear-headed and highly motivated.

Evidence of this is his goal of graduating from school. Darvich will attend the German school in Barcelona, which is within striking distance of the famous youth academy “La Masia”. Another example of his single-mindedness is an episode from the summer break.

Darvich is looked following not only by his parents but also by Leaderbrock Sports. In the beginning, the agency was primarily active in the Spanish market, where it works with stars Ferran Torres and Pedri, among others. Meanwhile, Leaderbrock Sports is also on the road in Germany.

As SPORT1 knows, the agency organized a preparatory training camp in Valencia for Darvich and the great talents Kenan Yildiz (Juventus Turin) and Adin Licina (FC Bayern Munich), who they also promoted.

The three youngsters worked up a sweat there and got physically in shape. The goal is clear: the highly ambitious trio – they want to climb the steep path to the top. That’s exactly why Darvich seeks the challenge in Barcelona.
