Jordhy Thompson’s 2023 has been marked by the case of gender violence in which he was involved as a protagonist. The accusations of mistreatment of his girlfriend had him sidelined from the courts for several months, until Gustavo Quinteros decided to reinstate him to the Colo Colo squad.
Now Thompson has six goals in one year and does not let go of the Cacique starting shirt, since his court case was forgotten. The player cries out to enter the Chilean National Team that will play the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. However, he has not been considered by Eduardo Berizzo.
This week a new microcycle of training for La Roja Sub 23 will take place. El Toto called up only two Colo Colo players: Marcos Bolados and Carlos Palacios. Even Thomas Galdames, who plays for Godoy Cruz of Argentina, entered. No trace of Thompson.
As El Mercutio revealed this Monday, Berizzo is not interested in the good sporting moment that Jordhy is experiencing. What’s more, they point out that his non-citation will even harm a possible transfer to English clubs.
“The explanation would lie in the gender violence of the Antofagasta native once morest his ex-partner, which was revealed in a video released last March and which sentenced his departure from the albo campus for almost a month. A delicate issue for the coach to handle with so little remaining for Santiago 2023”, they comment.
Why does your absence in La Roja affect your arrival in English football? “If he does not play for the national team, he will not be able to add the necessary points to apply for a work visa in that country,” added El Mercurio. Everything remains to be seen once the next National Team rosters are confirmed.
