Three weeks following its entry into force, the City of Namur decided to adapt its regulations for access to the pedestrian area of the city center, to facilitate the passage, in particular, of medical professionals and people with reduced mobility. With this adaptation, it also wishes to support businesses in the context of the future extension of the pedestrian zone.

As a reminder, access to the pedestrian area is free for all on entry and exit without license plate recognition between 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Sunday for deliveries, repairs, etc. Apart from that, only loading and unloading is allowed there.

Concretely, here are the novelties that the City communicates:

• Schools: free access for actors / operators of educational activities and meal deliverers for children.

• Trade: if they are installed in a street that becomes pedestrianized and if they practice an activity that requires an “out” delivery (eg caterer), they have two years to adapt while operating as before free of charge (a business already benefits from this relaxation).

Health: all medical professions, family helpers and home nurses have one year of renewable free access.

• Pharmacy: permanent and free access for deliveries to pharmacies.

• Disabled people, people with mobility difficulties, volunteers: two free accesses on presentation of proof (injured pupils, seniors, taxi services, etc.)
