MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, has inspected two important arms factories in the country, which has put the countries of the region on alert, which are waiting for the United States and South Korea to carry out a joint military exercise.

The South Korean Ministry of Unification has indicated this Monday that Kim’s visit to these facilities might also be due to an attempt to increase arms exports from the Asian country to Russia in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine.

Likewise, it has indicated that it occurs just a few weeks before Washington and Seoul launch new maneuvers in the vicinity at the end of August, according to information from the Yonhap news agency.

“These latest inspections carried out by Kim seem to have several objectives, such as showing the country’s defense achievements and promoting arms exports,” a ministry spokesman said.

However, the South Korean authorities consider it “very regrettable” that Pyongyang has continued to develop nuclear weapons, intercontinental ballistic missiles and conventional weapons even though this “means a cost to the people.”

During his visit, Kim alluded for the first time to the country’s “economic national defense work”, as stated by the aforementioned spokesman, who has stressed that these words represent an “unprecedented event”.
