2023-08-07 09:26:00

FREE TOWN. The Mühlviertler Wiesn and the adventure fair “Zukunft” start this year with the sounds of military music in their program. The adventure fair from August 12th to 15th shows regional examples of the combination of technology, nature and climate protection as well as new exhibitions.

A delegation from the military band of Lower Austria will ensure a lively start to the Wiesn on Friday, August 11, at 7 p.m. Afterwards, the Pierbacher Böhmische continues to play in the marquee. This is linked to the first “Armed Forces Evening” at the Wiesn: all former conscripts at the Freistadt barracks are invited to this social get-together.

Opening ceremony on Saturday

The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 12 at 10 a.m. Under the motto “Future”, the adventure fair this year deals with the topics of technology, nature and climate. The new special exhibition “Klimafit & Energie” shows in the outdoor area how the interaction of local resources and innovative technology can make meaningful contributions to a sustainable everyday life.

Enjoying nature in the Mühlviertel

The term “enjoying nature in the Mühlviertel” stands for quality and variety. Among other things, you can experience the primary production and processing in local organic farms, but also the valuable work of the beekeepers, regional leisure and tourism offers as well as culinary delicacies.

Lego exhibition

For the first time, there are three worlds of experience in miniature format for children in the exhibition halls: an elaborate Lego exhibition, model construction demonstrations and a detailed model railway exhibition.

Thread invites you to a birthday party

On Saturday, August 12th, the audience and the band Zwirn will experience magical moments. “On this evening we’re toasting to 30 years of music history,” announces singer Jürgen Maier from Kefermarkt. “Because on August 14, 1993, our musical career began at the folk festival in Freistadt!”

New program highlights every day

There are new program highlights every day on the exhibition grounds, such as the “Day of Families” (August 12), the “Day of the Emergency Forces” with presentations and an operational exercise by the police, Red Cross, fire brigade, army and civil defense (August 13), the “Senior Citizens’ Day” including a state hiking day of the Upper Austrian Senior Citizens’ Association and morning pint (August 14) as well as the “Youth and Clubs’ Day” with its own special exhibition and a vintage car meeting (August 15).

Large traditional fashion show on Saturday

The Schuhplattler Cup will take place on Sunday, August 13th. In addition, on Saturday, August 12 at 3 p.m. in the marquee, the most beautiful dirndl dresses and traditional costumes will be shown once more at the traditional costume fashion show with Elfi Maisetschläger.

Arrive with public transport, save in the marquee and get home safely

After the party on Saturday, special buses offer a safe return home to Linz, via Neumarkt, Hagenberg, Pregarten, Gallneukirchen.

Special buses also run to Linz on Friday and Monday, departing from Freistadt at 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. respectively. Taxi companies in the region take care of the regional home delivery service directly from the exhibition center.

You can arrive at any time by public transport. If you arrive with a regional bus of the Upper Austrian transport association, you save three euros with a consumption voucher in the marquee. It’s that easy: Inform the driver on the bus that you are visiting the Freistadt trade fair, receive a counting card and hand it in in the marquee. The counting card is valid as a voucher.
