Genshin Impact has become an amazing phenomenon – almost immediately following its release, it attracted millions of fans from all over the world who flooded the Internet with fanfiction, art, meticulous analysis of lore and much more. And, of course, there are many donators who are ready to pour tens of thousands of conventional units into the banners of their favorite characters. With such popularity, it is clear that the developers will not be able to please everyone – there will always be those who are dissatisfied with the balance or the event. However, some fans of Genshin Impact have loved the game so much that they have become literally obsessed with it. They react painfully to patches, the actions of developers, fantasize regarding their favorite characters and are ready to literally destroy the life of another person if he dares to say something once morest their favorite. And such a vocal (hopefully) minority manages to make truly absurd and even sometimes frightening scandals. We will talk regarding the loudest and strangest reactions of Genshin Impact fans in this material. Bullying of voice actors As sad as it may sound, online bullying has long become commonplace. Developers are scolded for balance changes and crooked facial animations, voice actors receive a flurry of criticism for their performance. But criticism is not always justified. The voice actors of Genshin Impact often suffer from this. For example, back in 2021, players began to poison actress Gui Nyang, who gave her voice to the Chinese version of Kokomi. And the reason turned out to be simple: the five-star healer character did not deal as much damage as players would like. What did the haters expect, who demanded to rework the character’s skills or characteristics, sending threats and angry messages to the actress? The question is rhetorical. Kokomi thinks at the release that she is still frail or a damage dealer. In a similar situation, Anjali Kunapaneni, the voice actress of Dory, a merchant from Sumeru, turned out to be in a similar situation. However, not fans of balance edits and epic ultimates wrote to her. The announcement of Sumeru as a whole caused an uproar among some fans who believed that there should not be white characters in the desert region – supposedly in reality only dark people live in northern Africa and Southeast Asia (spoiler: no). And when the developers introduced Dory – a miniature fair-skinned girl – the fighters for all the offended caught fire. They started accusing Kunapaneni of supporting negative stereotypes, “whitewashing” and other mortal sins, so the actress had to close private messages on social networks. I think no one will argue that being unhappy and even expressing it on social networks and comments in some thats okay. We are all people with our own tastes, expectations and fantasies. However, it is worth noting that mixing salty with red, or rather, associating a character’s voice acting with his balance or racial stereotypes in design and organizing hater raids is not entirely healthy behavior. Dory looks at everyone offended and insulted by her design . For example, actor Joshua David King, who voiced several NPCs in Genshin Impact, spoke negatively to media fans regarding the romantic ties between the two male characters. Then fans of such content almost razed him to the ground, so I had to partially apologize: the actor asked for forgiveness from the offended fans, but did not retract his words and emphasized that people can create any fanfiction and art, but you should not shut up those who like it I don’t like creativity. If it seemed to you that Genshin Impact fans can only unreasonably offend voice actors and their criticism does not affect the game in any way, it seemed to you. For example, gamers managed to “cancel” Elliot Gindy, who voiced Tignari in the English version of the game. All because of allegations of sexual violence and harassment once morest some fans. This time, everything is fair: following the scandal and the details that surfaced, the actor admitted to inappropriate behavior, and miHoYo quickly changed the voice acting of the character. It is a completely different matter when some people go from words to not the most healthy actions. In July 2023, the developers of Genshin Impact hosted a summer festival at the Seoul Olympic Park where fans might meet, chat, cosplay, and receive various in-game bonuses. While for most fans this kind of exhibition is a celebration, there was one extremely dissatisfied gamer. Genshin Impact Official Art On Twitter, he posted a photo of a homemade bomb made from a pot filled with nails and explosives. The user stated that he had planted an explosive device somewhere in the stadium, and the detonation would occur “at the appointed time.” After that, the festival was stopped, visitors were evacuated, and sappers began to work on the spot. But everything worked out – the post turned out to be an empty threat, there was nothing at the stadium. There were rumors online that a fan was dissatisfied with the development of the game and its Chinese origins, but no one ever found out the exact motives of the failed terrorist. The Wanderer drama – fanatics, jealousy, murder Wanderer. Also known as Scaramuccia, he is one of the antagonists and playable characters in Genshin Impact – his first banner was added at the end of 2022 with patch 3.3. Even then, some users did not like him so much that they began not only to pester the developers, but also to poison other gamers who played for this character. The Wanderer, aka Scaramuccia, who so infuriates fanatics harassment and negativity towards the hero. Particularly zealous haters even began to search for personal information of miHoYo employees. They were sure that the antagonist was written by a woman who needed to be put on trial. In general, the myth that the Wanderer was created by one woman is spread on the network by especially fanatical users (mostly men) who did not like that more male characters began to be added to Genshin Impact. We will not go into explanations that the process of creating a hero does not depend on one person, this should be clear anyway. Fortunately for the authors of Genshin Impact, the haters have not yet achieved success, having decided to drip on the brains of the media representatives of the studio and even the Chinese authorities: the players tried to involve the police in order to force miHoYo to delete the character through them. The plot of Genshin Impact in patches 3.3–3.6 aroused particular indignation in the community . After the release of the updates, the fans of Nahida, Dendro Archon, began to be jealous of her for the Wanderer, whom she is trying to re-educate and who she wants to help correct his past mistakes. And this is where the darkness begins. Nahida’s fans believe that the girl “betrayed” them and started a romantic relationship with Scaramuccia. Which in itself is absurd: Nahida is a child, and Scaramuccia is a teenager or youth. We will not go into the details of the lore, according to which each of them can be given a stretch of 500 years – these are still children with the corresponding models. And to prove this theory, fanatics cite a screenshot from the story campaign, where two cats are seen next to the characters, who accidentally got into the frame and generally go regarding their cat business – they sleep and lick themselves. The fact is that the fanatics are sure that the cats in the frame copulate and are placed specially by the developers themselves to emphasize the love affair of the characters, because the Wanderer is sometimes depicted in the form of a cat. gets and simple shaggy and mustachioed. Such art was enough for fans of Genshin Impact to start killing homeless animals, posting the results of their work on the social network. Particularly fanatical and jealous gamers, dissatisfied with the Wanderer and his connection with Nahida, justify their actions with hatred for the character and believe that in this way they will be able to remove the hero from the game. But, rather, this is just an attempt to justify their own cruelty. Attempts by other, more adequate fans of Genshin Impact to reason with stalkers distraught with jealousy were unsuccessful. When a post appeared on reddit describing the problems of the community, in particular the dominance of haters on Chinese forums, offended gamers began to accuse the author of betraying the motherland. They were even able to figure out the real name of the creator of the post and prepared to start a new wave of targeted bullying – all because someone dared to expose their behavior that goes beyond adequacy. Positive, creativity and constructive feedback are the key to a good community. cases are mostly the work of a loud, discontented and not entirely adequate minority. Basically, the Genshin Impact community is ordinary people who want to immerse themselves in a fantasy world and share their passions with others. However, the actions of obsessed fanatics cause not only a punching of the face with a palm, but also a real shock. And the saddest thing regarding this is that even the developers from miHoYo are unlikely to be able to somehow influence this. However, with the help of a more adequate and friendly community, something, maybe, will work out.
