Inceptio Technology, one of the leading Chinese developers of autonomous driving technologies for heavy-duty trucks, can now look back on more than 40 million kilometers of accident-free truck journeys on China’s highways with the help of its Autonomous Driving System. The Dongfeng and Sinotruk Autonomy Level 3 trucks have been in commercial use since the end of 2021. Inceptio has equipped hundreds of vehicles with its system.
According to Inceptio, the ultra-long-range 3-D sensor technology holds the industry record with an error rate of less than five percent at a distance of 1000 meters. The core algorithm also sets a performance benchmark with an average lateral control error of 5.5 centimeters. Algorithms optimize fuel consumption in every situation, resulting in fuel savings of three to seven percent compared to the most fuel-efficient human drivers.
Last year, Inceptio was the first company to receive public road approval for Level 4 driverless autonomous heavy-duty trucks in China. (aum/av)
