A passenger train derailed in southern Pakistan, killing at least 30 passengers and injuring dozens.
According to Pakistani daily DAWN on the 6th (local time), the derailment occurred near Nawabsha, Sindh Province in southern Pakistan, around 1:18 pm on the same day. It is known that 8 to 10 out of 17 passenger cars were derailed.
This train is an express train from Karachi, Sindh, to Rawalpindi, Punjab. At the time of the accident, there were regarding 1,000 passengers on the train, and at least 30 people were killed and dozens were injured in the accident.

“At the time of the accident, the train was running at a moderate speed of 45 km/h,” said Kawaja Saad Rafiq, Minister of Railways of Pakistan. There are also testimonies that the condition of the track was not good due to successive floods.
There are passengers who have not yet been able to get out of the derailed train cabin, and Pakistani authorities are continuing rescue operations. Volunteers are also rescuing the injured from the overturned carriage.
In Pakistan, which has 7,500 km of tracks, more than 80 million people use trains annually, but accidents often occur due to aging railway infrastructure. In June 2021, two trains collided, killing 65 people.
