A record three-year contract awaits Anthony Davis, the star pivot of the Los Angeles Lakers. Left free by Dallas Mavericks, the Frenchman Frank Ntilikina will bounce back to him in Charlotte.
NBA star Anthony Davis will extend his contract with the Lakers for three additional seasons and $ 186 million, a record sum, announced Friday the American media ESPN. The 30-year-old will make $62 million per season, which is the biggest annual salary in NBA history.
Once completed, the deal will tie Davis to the Los Angeles franchise through 2028 at a total cost of $270 million, according to the player’s agent, Rich Paul. Last season, he played a major role in the Lakers’ journey to the Western Conference Finals, where they were beaten by eventual champion Denver. Davis won his first NBA title of 2020 with the Lakers alongside LeBron James, the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
Ntilikina will have to convince the Hornets
The Frenchman Frank Ntilikina rebounds to him in Charlotte, where he commits for a season. Courted by two Belgrade teams and ASVEL, the 25-year-old was released by Dallas Mavericks. Nevertheless, the one who is currently preparing for the world championship with his national team will have to convince because his contract is only partially guaranteed.
Drafted in 2017, Frank Ntilikina will participate in Hornets training camp but does not yet have his place assured for the resumption of the NBA season. Passed by the New York Knicks between 2017 and 2021, Ntilikina remains on a season with 47 games at 12.9 minutes per game on average.
