A woman was killed by her former companion this Friday evening in Flémalle in the suburbs of Liège. The 26-year-old victim will be autopsied on Monday. The drama comes as she separated from her 21-year-old companion. The two “ex” spend the followingnoon together to distribute the couple’s property. At first, the tone is cordial, then it turns sour. The young man grabs his ex-girlfriend and kills her.

“At one point, gentleman preparing supper”says Damien Leboutte, the district prosecutor of Liège, “Madame receives a text message. Monsieur checks this text message and realizes that he has a rival. There follows a request for explanations, an argument, first verbal, which passes to a physical attack. Monsieur begins to shake Madame. They fall to the ground. Madame’s head hits the ground.
Monsieur explains there, in a somewhat vague way, that he once more shook Madame at least once. Her head hit the ground once more. He has no other memories. He notices at a given moment that Madame, whom he insulted, loses consciousness and that he finds himself with blood in his hands. There, he comes to himself, he says, and he contacts the police to explain his action. The autopsy will take place on Monday and will provide more information on the causes of death.
The young man is charged and placed in preventive detention. The council chamber will decide this week whether or not to keep him in prison.
