Michael Jackson might have been another of the victims of the 9/11 attack in New York.
A popular phrase says: “What is for you, even if you take it away. What is not for you, not even if you wear it” and apparently this applies to all aspects of our lives. Michael Jackson might have died on September 11, 2001; however, he saved his life, without even knowing it at the time.
According to the singer’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, in his book ‘You Are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother’s Eyes’, the ‘King of Pop’ was in New York City when the attack on the Twin Towers occurred, since on September 7 he had given the last show of his tour at Madison Square Garden, in which he had celebrated his 30-year career. In this presentation he performed his best songs and had great guests like Britney Spears, Eminem, Macaulay Culkin, Whitney Houston, Liza Minelli, Beyoncé and Elizabeth Taylor.

But in addition to the series of shows, the king of pop had a business meeting scheduled for September 11 in the morning in one of the Twin Towers, so he decided to stay in the city until that date.
However, as fate would have it, he stayed up late the night before talking on the phone with his mother, which caused him to go to bed very late at night and fall asleep.
This small change of plans was what saved his life.
No one in her family knew regarding that scheduled meeting in the Twin Towers, but as soon as the news of the attacks began to spread, the mother called Michael once more, who attended her at his hotel.
“Mother, I’m fine, thanks to you,” he told her. “You kept me up talking so late that I fell asleep and missed my appointment,” the singer replied through tears.
By that time, both towers had already been hit by planes hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists and the world was following the biggest attack in history live with stupefaction.

Michael Jackson’s life has always been surrounded by unverifiable theories and this fact might not be the exception. Although, numerous versions have circulated regarding what the singer did following dodging the tragedy.
The most delusional conspiracy version suggests that the interpreter of ‘Thriller’ would have received a call from a friend from Saudi Arabia, who would have warned him of the attack and that the story that he had fallen asleep was invented by him so that he does not create problems for him .
Another version that circulated for a long time was that Jackson, following learning regarding the attack and with the United States airports blocked, the first thing he did was rent a vehicle to pick up his friends Liz Taylor and Marlon Brando, who were also in New York and to protect them he took them to Ohio.

According to that rumor, the car he rented was not too flashy to go unnoticed and since there were many hours of travel, the artists stopped at McDonald’s and KFC to eat on the road.
But it was finally Liz Taylor herself who denied this story and revealed that she stayed in New York taking care of Debbie Reynolds, with whom she had recently resumed her friendship following years of estrangement for having “stolen” her husband, Eddie Fisher.
Despite the denial, the alleged escape by car of Michael Jackson, Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor in a rented car along the eastern North American routes was adapted by the Sky Arts channel to become a film.
The protagonists of that film were Stockard Channing, who played Elizabeth Taylor; Brian Cox, who gave life to Marlon Brando and the British Joseph Fiennes, who played Michael Jackson.

However, in 2017, when it was already finished with the title “Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon” and the promotional trailer had been released, it was suddenly cancelled.
The trailer received numerous reviews. One of them was because a white actor played the king of pop. Added to this was the outrage on the part of two members of Michael’s family, his daughter Paris and his nephew Taj.
“Unfortunately, this is what my family has to deal with. There are no words that can express the blatant lack of respect,” the model and Jackson’s second daughter said angrily on Twitter.
Through a statement, Sky Arts apologized and clarified that the decision was made following the “concern expressed by the immediate family of Michael Jackson.” “We put on a lighthearted appearance of supposedly real events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”
