The boy was camping in the Heart O’ the Hills area south of Port Angeles. According to a statement issued by the US National Parks website, “the cougar casually gave up its attack following the child’s mother yelled and yelled at it. Park staff responded quickly and once the boy’s medical condition was evaluated and stabilized.”

The minor suffered some minor injuries, and fortunately, he did not lose his life in the middle of the attack, but rather had to be transferred to the nearest health center to receive primary care. In turn, the campers who were in the area were evacuated, therefore, Heather Park will remain closed until further notice.

The Park indicated in the statement that “if the puma is found, it will be euthanized and removed from the park for a necropsy. This may provide clues as to why the animal attacked”, this, because seeing pumas is too rare, added to the attacks of these cats on humans that are even stranger.
