The Ronquières Festival got off to a visibly chaotic start on Friday. Many festival-goers missed their concert, access to the site was very complicated and the queues were endless. Many of you have informed us of your dissatisfaction via the orange Alert Us button.
This is the case of Joëlle, who had to take her troubles patiently when she arrived on the site: “The roads were blocked in such a way that the site is almost inaccessible. Traffic was diverted onto small roads where the intervention of the emergency services is totally impossible. No indication. Conclusion: 2h drive, 1h for the bracelets and the Louise Attaque concert that we miss“, she regretted.
My son is crying in line because he won’t see the band he loves
Same reaction from another festival-goer who came with her family: “We left Brussels at 6 p.m. with our children aged 13, 11 and 8 to see Louise Attaque at 8:40 p.m. then Indochine. It’s 8:30 p.m. my husband is only parked now following 2:30 driving“, she begins. “We arrive in the line where we are told 1 hour to recover our access to the site. Suffice to say that for the Louise Attaque concert that my son dreamed of seeing, it’s dead. We are disgusted. My 11 year old son is crying in line because he understands he won’t see the band he loves”.
Contacted, the festival spokesperson then explained the reason for these complications: “Car parks have been preventively closed because of soggy floors. In order to avoid having cars get stuck, they were not opened“. He assured that the situation was under control, despite the anger of some festival-goers.
The carnage at the entrance and the same carnage at the exit
In any case, leaving the plain of the inclined plane turned out to be just as complicated for the spectators. Critics rocketed. “At the moment 3m in 50 minutes in the car park. How is it possible to be so poorly organized following so many years of experience. The carnage at the entrance and the same carnage at the exit. No desire to come back the rest of the weekend”, confided Mathilde, with a bitter taste.
“Already blocked for an hour in our parking space at the Ronquières festival. Nothing moves. Everyone is blocked. It’s shameful”confirms Emile a little later.
A meeting is scheduled around 9 a.m. with the mayor, the organizers and the police to prevent it from happening once more this Saturday.
The event, held this summer despite the rain, expects 80,000 people for its three days.
