24 Teenagers Stranded in Paris: Flight Cancellation and Compensatory Measures by Transavia

Following a last-minute flight cancellation on Wednesday August 2, 24 teenagers are stranded in Paris for two days. Contacted by CNEWS, the airline takes charge of the tickets and compensatory allowances.

A vacation that started very badly for teenagers who had to review their plans. The “Temps Jeunes” colony, of which the 24 teenagers are part, located near Lyon, received an email, a few minutes before takeoff (at 10.15 p.m. this Wednesday), from Transavia, telling it that their flight, in the direction of Iceland, was cancelled.

TEENAGERS BRIEFED ON THE ROAD TO THE AIRPORT

The camp’s customer relations manager, Monica Riou, was stunned by the company’s announcement. She testified to our colleagues from France 3 “The flight was scheduled to take off at 10:15 p.m. to arrive in Reykjavik at 11:55 p.m. We received a simple email informing us that the flight was simply cancelled. The reason mentioned in the letter: a flight crew problem, unavailability of the crew!”

Problem, at the time of receipt of the email (at 2:22 p.m.), the teenagers were already on their way to the airport: “The children come from all over France, so we had already organized the pre-routings in the morning, from Toulon, Saint-Jean de Maurienne, Bordeaux, Niort… Then, our teams pick them up at the various stations, and we leave for Orly. So, at that time, at 2:22 p.m., we no longer have the option of going back. We informed the families that the flight was cancelled, telling them that we were looking for a solution,” explained Monica Riou.

VISIT PARIS WHILE WAITING FOR THE NEXT FLIGHT THIS SATURDAY

Contacted by us, Transavia informed us that the teenagers will finally be able to leave for Iceland this Saturday August 5th. The tickets, as well as the compensatory allowances, will be paid for by the Dutch company.

While waiting for the flight, the organizers of the camp have found a solution to occupy the teenagers: visit Paris. “The animators will take them to visit Paris. This has already happened to us at the beginning of July, we had brought children to Parc Astérix. In this case, we will find an alternative solution so that this day is not lost, and that it is a day of vacation and visit ”, detailed the head of the customer relations service of the colony.
