The technical director of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernández, spoke regarding the decision of the Frenchman Ousmane Dembelé to leave the ranks of the team and sign for Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

During an interview offered to TV3 following Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Milan at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the coach assured that he is disappointed by the decision made by Dembelé.

“I’m disappointed. We mightn’t compete with the PSG proposal. He tried to save him, but he told me that he had already spoken with Nasser and with Luis Enrique and that there was no going back, ”he highlighted.

“It’s the market law. The proposal you’re making is totally out of our… We can’t compete with her right now. It is a pity. Good luck to you,” he added.

Hernández stressed that Dembelé came to the board with a proposal from the Parisians that cannot be rivaled by the Blaugrana, a fact that generated his interest in returning to his country.

“It is simple. He came to me with a proposal from PSG. That he wanted to leave, that he has spoken with Luis Enrique, with Nasser and has a proposal with which we cannot compete. We have asked him the reason and he has not been able to answer. I sense that it will be something personal. Upset? Yes. The important thing is that it has been clear. I wish him luck, ”she stressed.

Finally, the coach of Barcelona acknowledged that the termination clause of 50 million euros was not a surprise, a figure that is very comfortable for PSG to pay.

“I am in contact with Mateu Alemany and we knew regarding the clause. Such is the market. Barça continues. Footballers who don’t want to be at Barça have to be let go. I asked him why, the reason… He didn’t really know how to tell me, but it’s clear that it’s his personal issue”, concluded Xavi.
