After her husband’s illness, the skater had to give up her dream.
The last year for Oksana Domnina was incredibly difficult. Her husband Roman Kostomarov fought for his life for many weeks, and then spent months recovering from a coma and amputation of limbs.
Now that Roman has finally been discharged from the hospital, the skater is preparing to return to work. But all this puts an end to her dream.
Three years ago, in an interview, Domnina stated that she wanted to leave the sport. Figure skating requires a lot of strength – both moral and physical. Therefore, Oksana wanted to leave the skating rink and live a more calm and relaxed life.
“Well, when will all this end?” she lamented following one of the shows.
But Domnina’s dream is not yet destined to come true. After seven months of treatment, they were not in the best financial situation. Although many colleagues collected money to pay for doctors and rehabilitation for Kostomarov, he will not be able to return to work soon. Therefore, Domnina is preparing for the new season of the Averbukh ice show, and for the time being she had to forget regarding leaving the ice.
