Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal near the end, to qualify Al-Nassr to the quarter-finals of the Arab Football Clubs Championship, following a 1-1 draw with Zamalek, who left the championship.

Ronaldo equalized for the Saudi giants with a header, following Ahmed Sayed (Zizou) advanced from a penalty kick.

Al-Nasr raised its tally to five points, two points behind its local rival, Al-Shabab, the leaders of Group C.

Zamalek came third with four points, and the Tunisian Monastir Union bottomed the group without any points.

Al-Nasr will play Moroccan Raja in the quarter-finals.

“The draw is very important and it would have qualified us,” Cristiano Ronaldo told the Saudi Sports Company “SSC” channel, through an interpreter. We played once morest an organized team and we are getting better with time.”

“Proud of my team,” Zamalek coach Juan Carlos Osorio told a news conference. We underestimated the danger of victory and he did not have many opportunities, but this is football.

Mahmoud Abdel Razek (Shikabala) said, “We played a good match and implemented all the coach’s instructions.”

The Zamalek captain added, “The big players like Ronaldo need one chance to finish the match, even if they did not play well throughout the match. We didn’t focus for one moment that Ronaldo took advantage of to score and finish the game.

And he continued, “(The difference) in the marketing value is great between the two teams, but we, Zamalek, have a history and played with the legacy made by those before us. We will build on what we have achieved in this tournament for next season.”
