Magda El Roumi wrote at the beginning of the clip: “I dedicate this work to the families of the martyrs of the port and all the families of the righteous martyrs of Lebanon. It took the preparation of this work “When Beirut Returns”, which was filmed with very high technologies between Lebanon and Egypt, especially at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, and it was implemented by a very large team led by director Charbel Youssef, regarding two years to appear in this way.
This song was written by the late great poet Nizar Qabbani 40 years ago, and composed by the Lebanese composer Yahya Al-Hassan, while the orchestral music arrangement was supervised by Michel Fadel, and the oriental music arrangement was handled by Hassan Yahya Al-Moawad.
The Lebanese journalist Nishan expressed his admiration for the song with a tweet in which he wrote: “Is it possible for beautiful Beirut to emerge once once more from the forbidden hands?”
For her part, journalist Rabia Al-Zayyat wrote: “For a long time, we have been waiting for a work that is worthy of Beirut and its wounds, and that rises to the level of the pains of this city and its people.”
