The company supplied customers throughout Switzerland.

Geraldine Granges Guenot Horticulture

The fulliéraine company Granges et Guenot extended over eleven hectares, the equivalent of regarding fifteen football pitches. It employed 40 people year-round and up to 100 in the spring. It was also the most important producer in Switzerland, in the field of horticulture. But all that is over. In mid-July, the company ceased its activities, explains “Le Nouvelliste”. Its many customers – including garden centers, landscapers, florists, public authorities, hotels and especially Jumbo stores – will therefore quickly have to find new suppliers for their plants, flowers and seedlings.

According to the Valais daily, it is moreover the takeover of Jumbo by the Coop in 2021 which would have precipitated the fall of the company, which has been active for more than sixty years. If the orders did not stop, the purchase price would have dropped drastically. Asked by “Le Nouvelliste“, Jumbo’s spokesperson explains that: “Given the fundamentally different supply and delivery situation since the integration of Jumbo into Coop, and due to the current market development and inflation, the purchase prices are not comparable.”
