NNA – Sidon – Calm has prevailed in Ain El-Hilweh camp since early morning, following a night of clashes that were considered the most violent since the situation deteriorated there, and following the ceasefire agreement had held throughout yesterday.
Until late in the morning, the sounds of machine guns and the sound of shells continued to be heard, many of which hit the city of Sidon, especially the vicinity of Sidon Governmental Hospital, the American Roundregarding, and the areas of Fawwar and villas, at a time when it was reported that a person affiliated with the “Fatah” movement had been killed and a number of injuries had occurred as a result of the clashes. Which erupted on more than one axis inside the camp, especially the emergency barracks and the emergency Al-Tahtani Street, Al-Quds Grove, Hattin and Al-Tiri.
Osbat al-Ansar stated in a statement that “uncontrolled elements of the Fatah movement began attacking its centers and mosques in the emergency and al-Safsaf neighborhoods, despite its commitment not to respond and its statement not to engage in pointless clashes,” blaming “the Palestinian leadership as a whole” for the escape, demanding it to “Holding outlawed elements accountable and lifting the lid on them,” stressing that “they will not be dragged into these clashes, whatever the price.”
The commander of the Palestinian National Security in Sidon, Abu Iyad Al-Shaalan, said: “We established the cease-fire following a tour of all our positions in Ain Al-Hilweh camp, and we gave our instructions to stop the fire under any circumstances. In joint Palestinian action, we will not attack or clash with any of their sites.
