Airbus says it is making progress in its goal of recruit more than 13,000 employees in 2023does not consider it urgent to launch a new A220-500 – and unveiled the new livery of the future A350F.

The European aircraft manufacturer on June 21, 2023 called on “aerospace enthusiasts” to join a growing sector, as it seeks to recruit more than 13,000 people around the world in 2023. To date, more than 7,000 of these positions have been filled “despite a difficult labor market”. And plans are already “well advanced” to fill the remaining positions with new hires, who will help support Airbus’ production ramp-up and decarbonization ambitions.

« We are happy to see that Airbus remains attractive despite the challenges in the labor market. Our recruitment efforts are bearing fruit and will continue to support the ramp-up of our production and the transformation of our business. said Thierry Baril, Airbus Chief Human Resources & Workplace Officer, in a statement. ” We are focused on attracting, nurturing and developing the best diverse talent in our business to help us shape the future of sustainable aerospace ».

Airbus offers thousands of job opportunities in manufacturing, engineering and activities supporting its long-term goals such as cybersecurity, software engineering and new propulsion technologies (e.g. hydrogen, cryogenics , fuel cells). One third of the total recruitment will be allocated to young graduates. “With this ambition”, Airbus has just signed an extension of its partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology for 5 additional years, within the framework of the Airbus Academic Program (with a selection of the 15 best universities and schools in the world). In 2023, in addition to this strategic program, Airbus has expanded its academic partnerships with 42 business schools and universities around the world, through agreements with CEMS and UNITECH. These partnerships “will foster potential synergies in the aerospace sector that will contribute to the development of the next generation of aerospace professionals”.

Airbus currently employs more than 134,000 people in its operations around the world. In 2023, Airbus was awarded Top Employers certification in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific by the Top Employers Institute, an independent global authority on recognizing excellence in people management and HR policies. The Paris Air Show was also an opportunity to discuss a potential A220-500for which the search for a second engine manufacturer has already been launched but for which Airbus has not, according to its commercial director Christian Scherer ” no urgent need “. The words were spoken at a press conference on Wednesday, when the aircraft manufacturer had just garnered several hundred orders for its A320neo single-aisle family in particular. But this new version of the single-aisle designed in Canada remains ” a natural evolution – once the production stabilized then increasedsince ” demand exceeds production of the A220-100 and -300.

Finally, as promised, Airbus unveiled the result of the concours launched to provide a delivered to the future A350F cargo plane : it is actually a combination of two designs. “Congratulations to John Feehan and brothers Quinnten and Ellisten Iversen for winning the contest. We look forward to seeing your design come to life as the A350F embarks on its maiden flight in 2025,” said Airbus.
