We will continue to communicate with the public here,” it said initially. “Our officers are searching the area in and around the Senate building,” police said.
Apparently a false alarm
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington told > that the call regarding an active gunman appeared to be a false alarm. “No injuries and no shooter were found,” said the spokesman.
The office building is just a few blocks from the courthouse where the former President Donald Trump in court on Thursday to appear to hear his latest indictment.
