the essential Tafari Campbell, who disappeared on Sunday July 23, was found dead the next day a few meters from the summer residence of the Obama family, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. Since then, wild rumors have been circulating accusing the couple of disguising the death of the family’s personal cook as an accident. The Dispatch make the point.
The Obama family implicated in the death of one of their employees who they allegedly disguised as an accident? This is the crazy rumor that has been feeding the conspiratorial spheres of the web for a few days. The starting point: the death of the family cook, formerly at the head of the United States.
Missing since Sunday July 23, the body of Tafari Campbell, personal cook of the Obama family, formerly chef at the White House, was found Monday July 24 in a pond in Massachusetts. According to the first elements of the investigation, the accidental track is privileged. The 45-year-old father, who practices paddle, is said to have drowned on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, where the Obama clan owns a property. The cook reportedly lost his balance and died following falling into the water in Edgartown Great Pond.
“Tafari was an integral part of our family. When we first met him, he was a talented Sous Chef in the White House – creative and passionate regarding food, and his ability to bring people together,” Barack reacted. and Michelle Obama on Monday July 24. The cook appears in particular behind the stoves in videos shared by the White House during Barack Obama’s tenure.
“Over the years that followed, we discovered a warm, funny, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter,” the Obama couple continued.
A video that went viral
Statements that would hide a dark secret for some. On social networks, conspiracy theories relating to the incident abound and are massively disseminated. A video, which has gone viral on Instagram, claims that Tafari Campbell was writing a book on the Obama clan when he was found “with head trauma in barely 1 meter of water on the Obama property”.
The video also states that help was not called until several hours had passed, specifically until the victim’s body washed up on the shore of the waterhole and the “doctor Obama’s personal coroner” was reportedly flown in from Washington to conduct the autopsy.
“Here’s the latest on the case,” the man says in the video. “And you wonder why we see conspiracy theories everywhere. It’s because you lie all the time. That’s why,” he continues.
No proof of the existence of a book in preparation
Nevertheless, so far, nothing has proven any of the elements advanced relating to a suspicious death, affirms the AP news agency. Regarding the rumored book with burning revelations regarding the former tenants of the White House, nothing indicates that Tafari Campbell was developing such a project before his death.
The rumor can be traced back to a Twitter account“known for spreading false information” who, on July 24, claimed, without citing any source, that the cook was preparing a “tell-all” (content where we “tell everything”, where we indulge to revelations).
??DEVELOPING: Obamas Chef is now reported to have suffered blunt trauma prior to death.
There are also reports stating that the Obamas called of the autopsy being performed by the local authorities and flew their own mortician from D.C. to perform the autopsy.

??DEVELOPING: Martha’s Vineyard Commission verified that the average depth of the Edgartown Great Pond which is where the Obamas chef drowned is 3.0 to 4.3 feet.

Neither Tafari Campbell’s family nor an Obama family spokesperson has responded to press inquiries at this time, but the cook has never shared any posts on his social media suggesting he was working on a book, contrary to what has been suggested by Internet users. His Instagram page has since been made private.
According to AP, at least one of Tafari Campbell’s ex-colleagues, who also worked in the White House kitchens during the Obama era, has become an author. Sam Kass actually published a book in 2018 called “Eat a Little Better: Great Flavor, Good Health, Better World”. But this is a cookbook.
No evidence of a “suspicious death”
The origin of the rumors concerning a head trauma noted on the body of the victim comes from from the same source as the one on the book. A charge quickly refuted by the police of Massachusetts.
When asked by AP, David Procopio, spokesman for the Massachusetts State Police, also denied allegations that Barack Obama’s personal medical examiner conducted the autopsy on Tafari Campbell.
According to authorities, a post-mortem examination conducted by the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner “found no evidence that the death was suspicious,” including any head injuries.
The call for help passed late?
Regarding the time of the call for help, it was made shortly following the accident, says David Procopio. Tafari Campbell went out with a friend who was also a paddleboarder around 7 p.m. to join the Edgartown Great Pond. The call to “911”, the emergency number in the United States, was made at 7:46 p.m., shortly following the victim disappeared under water.
His body was found regarding 30 yards from shore in the Turkeyland Cove Road area, where the Obamas’ summer residence is located. And although, indeed, the average depth of the pond is around 1 meter, the victim was found in waters around 2 to 2 and a half meters deep, David Procopio reported on Monday.
“They were on the paddle boards for a while before he fell,” he wrote in an email, agreeing with previous statements from state police. “After his fall, the other surfer (whose identity has not been revealed, editor’s note) swam a short distance to where [la victime] had disappeared to try to locate him. When he mightn’t find him, he swam to shore and ran to explain what had happened to the person who then called 911,” David Procopio said.
Evidence of an altercation?
Shortly following the death of Tafari Campbell, Barack Obama was photographed on a golf course with a bandage around his fingers. It did not take more to ignite new conspiratorial impulses suggesting that the bandage was proof of an altercation between the former president of the United States and his cook.
“This is the very first photo taken of Barack Obama just days following his cook […] mysteriously died in three feet of water on Obama’s property in Martha’s Vineyard. There are cuts on his fingers. As if he had been involved in a fight. VERY strange,” one post read.

Yet the bandages on the hand of the former head of state are quite common for a person practicing golf. In fact, Barack Obama, an avid golfer, was photographed on several occasions over the years, wearing similar bandagesremember APincluding several times on this same residence in Massachusetts.
Eric Schultz, a spokesman for the former president, confirmed on Tuesday (August 2) that the bandages were plaster or “golfer’s tape” and that their use has been “standard practice for him for many years”.
