One of the biggest villains in the Hunter x Hunter cosplay, Hisoka, has been recreated in a low-budget makeover. The recent return of Hunter x Hunter has been a huge event in the anime world, with creator Yoshihiro Togata deciding to return following a long hiatus. While the manga artist’s health issues caused the series to take another hiatus, and as the artist stated, he mightn’t keep up with the weekly release schedule, the teenage character remains a fan favorite in the anime world. The villainous Hisoka remains a staple of the Shonen series to this day, hilariously brought to life by a cosplayer with a “low-cost” makeover. In the latest animated series from Studio Madhouse, we center on Jay and his friends as we witness the real malice surrounding Hisoka. Considered one of the most powerful members of the Phantom Troupe, the clown-faced antagonist has a morbid crush on Jack-Jack and wants to prepare him for the fight to the end. In the comics, Hisoka tried to defeat Kuroro, the leader of the Phantom Brigade, just to test his strength. Hisoka ultimately failed to defeat Kuroro in a one-on-one fight, but he escaped the fight with his life and will likely return for a rematch in the future of the comics. Hisoka: The Phantom Troupe on the Cheap “Low-Cost Cosplay” is known for bringing characters from anime and pop culture to life using inexpensive household items. In the case of Hisoka, the cosplayer uses peppers and vegetables subtly to bring the teenage villain to life. Thanks to Hisoka’s wild design, low-budget cosplayers have done their job with this one. Following the return of the manga, Hunter x Hunter has yet to confirm whether the anime adaptation will also return. The last episode of Hunter x Hunter’s recently launched anime ended in 2014 and ended with an election arc, which means there are still quite a few big moments from the manga that haven’t been animated yet. If the anime returns someday, it’ll be interesting to see if a new show retells the Shonen series from scratch once more or picks up where Madhouse left off.
