“Tour de Gall” from Lienz to Nußdorf-Debant
Rad-Ass from Nußdorf-Debant ceremoniously received in his home country Customary reception with LH Anton Mattle
Today, Wednesday, professional cyclist Felix Gall was welcomed to his home in East Tyrol. After the customary reception by the market band and the rifle company Nußdorf-Debant as well as flag delegations from the Tyrolean traditional associations, LH Anton Mattle personally congratulated the professional cyclist in Nußdorf-Debant: “The most recent successes in the Tour de France and the outstanding performances in previous years show that Felix Gall is an exceptional talent. With his commitment and diligence, he is a role model for many young Tyrolean athletes. We are very proud of our cycling heroes. It is very important to me to personally congratulate him in his home town on behalf of the state of Tyrol. That’s why I was very happy to come to East Tyrol to ride my bike to the official reception together with Felix Gall and hundreds of fans Sportland Tyrol. His win of one of the toughest stages of the Tour de France this year was very impressive. Such achievements require iron discipline, hard training and a strong mentality that can withstand the prevailing international pressure. Felix Gall can be proud of his performance and his team – Tyrol is too.”
Even before the customary reception, hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists, including the governor, cycled with the Tour de France stage winner from Lienz to the Agunt Stadium in his home town of Nußdorf-Debant. In the Tour de France, Felix Gall won the 17th stage from Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc to Courchevel, known as the king’s stage, the week before last, finished second in the mountains classification and finished eighth in the overall classification. “A remarkable achievement that will also go down in the history of Tyrolean cycling,” LH Mattle and sports consultant LHStv Dornauer agree.
25-year-old Felix Gall caused quite a stir in 2015 with his victory at the junior world championships in road racing. This year he was able to win a stage at the Tour de Suisse and was allowed to wear the “yellow” jersey of the overall leader for one day. “Achievements like this are very important. They bring cycling and the associated fascination and emotion closer to the people of Tyrol and have positive effects on the sporting state of Tyrol as a whole. We are all the more pleased with the professional cyclist that this achievement was a success,” says LH Mattle.
