With the Special Olympics World Games, the world’s largest inclusive sports event has been taking place since yesterday and will continue until the end of next week: around 7,000 athletes with mental and multiple disabilities are at the start in Berlin. As the official mobility partner, Toyota supports the organizers of the World Games and provides around 300 vehicles, including Lexus models, for the transport of athletes, coaches and officials. They run, among other things, between accommodation, venues and competition venues. The all-electric Toyota bZ4X and the fuel cell sedan Mirai will be there, among others.

The Special Olympics World Games take place every two years. Athletes from 190 nations compete in 26 disciplines in Berlin. In addition to the vehicle fleet, Toyota also takes part in the Special Olympics World Games with volunteers: 35 employees from the German headquarters in Cologne alone are on duty as helpers for the athletes.

Toyota has been a long-standing partner of the Special Olympics at national and international level: the company has been supporting the inclusive sports movement since 2015. Toyota Motor Europe has been a partner of Special Olympics Europe Eurasia since 2020, and since 2021 Special Olympics Germany (SOD) and the “Team Germany Special Olympics” have also been sponsored.
