Die Study was published by a team led by nutritionist Luis Cisneros-Zevallos from Texas A&M University. The college already has a geographical connection to pecans, since Texas is their original home.

The studied nuts are botanically closely related to walnuts. They provide a lot of vitamin B and C and were already on the menu of the Native Americans. Today, pecans are even taken into space by astronauts because they are considered very nutritious.

This is also confirmed by the study by Texas A&M University, in which an interdisciplinary team was involved. It came to the conclusion that the Texan nuts have an anti-inflammatory effect, counteract an imbalance in the intestinal flora and boost energy consumption.

For the research, the nuts were given to mice, where the health effects were determined. However, nuts have a fat content of 72 percent, which raises the question of whether they can really help you lose weight.

According to the team around Luis Cisneros-Zevallos, pecans support the breakdown of adipose tissue and can thus contribute to the reduction of obesity. Fatty liver and diabetes can also be prevented by eating nuts. Luis Cisneros-Zevallos sees studies like his as pioneering in the development of healthy pecan products.

An example of this would be dietary supplements that make the effect of nuts even more accessible. This would be beneficial to the increasing number of people around the world suffering from obesity or diabetes.
