Launching of Puerto Morelos Wellness Unit: Providing Healthcare to Underserved Communities in Quintana Roo

Puerto Morelos.- Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa launched the Puerto Morelos Wellness Unit, where people who need it most in Puerto Morelos, central Vallarta, Leona Vicario and Delirios can receive health care.

The Puerto Morelos Unit is one of the 10 that will operate throughout the state and that will benefit more than 350,000 people who lack access to health services.

During the visit, the governor of Quintana Roo handed out cards from the Welfare Units and said that this program is added to the mobile health caravans that travel through the corners of the municipalities.

He added that this is possible with the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo to give preferential medical attention to people who do not have the minimum levels of social well-being, reducing the gaps of inequality in health.

People will have unlimited medical consultations, dental services alike with two cleanings a year; In addition to eye exams, those who require it may receive lenses of up to 4 diopters free of charge each year.

Among the free services, laboratory studies of the basic picture stand out and are found within the first level: 6-element blood chemistry, complete blood count, hemoglobin, pharyngeal exudate, among others. Within the laboratory studies, and to continue with the care of women, the immunological pregnancy test and the papanicolaou are performed, for the prevention and care of venereal diseases, HIV and VDRL (syphilis) detection tests were also included.

She was accompanied by the municipal president Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the Secretary of Welfare Pablo Bustamante, and the federal deputy Alberto Batun Chulim.
