Floripa Conecta generated more than R$50 million and attracted more than 145,000 people in 2022, boosting the economy of the Capital of Santa Catarina. In this edition, more than 150 events will take place in all regions of Florianópolis throughout the month of August
Anyone who thinks that Santa Catarina lives only on tourism is traveling. Electronic game developers went down to play with annual revenues of more than R$19 billion, generated by 17,000 companies and placed the State in 6th place in the Brazilian ranking of the technology sector. Within this scenario, the largest creative economy event in Latin America takes place throughout the month of August.
From games to gastronomy: Floripa’s programming connects Brazil’s biggest creative economy movement starts this week
The 3rd edition of Floripa Conecta tripled its duration, which last year lasted only 10 days, this year there will be 31 days of events throughout the capital.
Santa Catarina has one of the most thriving economies in Brazil thanks to the diversity of economic activities carried out here, such as services, commerce, industry and agriculture, which play an important role in keeping the State growing. And in the low season of winter, Floripa Conecta arrived to revolutionize, expand the economic system and bring together the various events of the creative economy.
“The main objective of the entire movement is to stimulate the mix of segments, enhance development opportunities, and above all, expand connections between the local population, and consequently, attract tourists from all over the country. We will sell what the city has to offer: tourism, technology and gastronomy”, says Thaynan Mariano, executive director of Floripa Conecta.
The expectation is that at least 100,000 people attend the events in 2023, in a diverse agenda that ranges from the Largest Video Game event, Beer Championship, 25 km Marathon to the Largest Battery Orchestra – all happening synergistically in the region.
Here is the main schedule of Floripa Conecta in 2023:
Day 3/08 – Inova+Ação
Inova+Ação is the biggest immersion in entrepreneurship in the Capital of Santa Catarina, offering 10 uninterrupted hours of lectures, mentoring and panels with more than 15 speakers, in addition to a Business Fair with several Startups to foster the relationship network, with the most diverse themes such as sales, high performance, retail, marketing, technology, innovation, startups, artificial intelligence, financial management, female entrepreneurship, planning, health and well-being, among others.
3-5/08 – Brazilian Meeting of UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy
The first meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities of gastronomy takes place with the aim of connecting the production chain, promoting the exchange of experiences, knowledge, ideas and projects.
An opportunity for Florianópolis to show its gastronomic and cultural riches to people from all over the country, with show classes, represented by chefs from each of the approved cities, cultural attractions, shows and participation of local restaurants.
Days 8-10/08 – Encatho & Exprotel
The Catarinense Meeting of Hoteliers – Encatho & Exprotel will bring together in its 34th edition, the big names of the national hotel industry, providing opportunities for business, qualification, knowledge of new products and services, updating in the operation, networking and dissemination of the potential of national tourism, with the objective of presenting innovations, trends and perspectives for hospitality and tourism, without forgetting that the main tool of hospitality remains the human being.
Days 12-13/08 – Expo Tattoo
There will be 02 days of lots of skin art, band shows, handicraft trade, artistic and cultural exhibitions, Miss and Mister Tattoo, giveaway raffle, special food court.
Dia 19-20/08 – Stun Game Festival
An exhibition of independent games, which can be played by the public, e-sports championships, including Free Fire, League of Legends, Valorant and FIFA, as well as a multiplayer arena game, in Virtual Reality, and a Game Jam. In addition to games, lectures by professionals in the field and networking moments. The event will offer pure fun with a cosplay contest, k-pop battle, Escape Room challenge and a gamer-themed ballad, which will take place on Saturday at 10 pm, with a special line-up of DJs, for people over 18 years old.
August 20th – Drum Orchestra
The Florianópolis Battery Orchestra celebrates its 10th edition on August 20, 2023, being considered the largest gathering of drummers in the Americas. The event should bring together 350 drummers at Largo da Catedral. International guests, a mix of musical styles and an unprecedented repertoire are among the novelties of the edition. The event is free to the public.
Dia 21-24/08 – Brasil Beer Cup
Florianópolis will be the stage for a competition, congress and beer festival, organized and technically curated by the Science of Beer Institute. The beer competition was born with the commitment to contribute to the development of the sensory quality of the sparkling and emerging national beer market, through the analysis and careful evaluation of the samples received, in an ethical and responsible way through Science, Technology, Innovation, Expertise, Methodology , Technicality, Credibility and Equity, which are the guidelines for holding events. The BBC competition will cover breweries from around the world in the commercial and experimental categories.
Dia 23-25/08 – Startup Summit
The event will feature more than 200 speakers and 10,000 people are expected for a meeting between startups, investors and big names in the ecosystem in 3 days of event with activities, auditoriums with content, business area with the main companies in the sector and the presence of main opinion leaders and trendsetters in the national and international market.
August 26-27 – Florianópolis International Marathon
The FLORIPA INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2023 expects to surpass the mark of 17,000 participants, with a route practically entirely flat and at sea level, perfect for achieving the best personal marks. In 2018 it was considered the fastest marathon in Brazil, by Contra Relógio magazine. It is one of the biggest street racing events in Brazil. With an incredible view from Beiramar Norte and Via Expressa Sul avenues, it is already featured in the national racing calendar. Due to its course characteristics, it is widely used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
There will be the Marathon (42Km), the Half Marathon (21Km), the 5Km Run and the Floripa Marathon (Kids). The novelties for 2023 are the 5K Run, which returns to the event and will be held on Friday (25.08), in a night race, and the Half Marathon which will be held on Saturday (26.08), making each modality of the event is carried out in a unique way, without overlapping with another distance.
