″Why should people with short futures vote 1-1?”

The ruling party is adding to the offensive over this remark by Kim Eun-kyung, chairman of the Democratic Party’s innovation committee.

The Innovation Committee has repeatedly refuted that it is not an issue to apologize for, saying that it is “splitting the ruling party’s generation.”

Reporter Lee Hye-ri covered the story.

″Why do people with short futures vote equally 1-to-1? It’s very reasonable, but I said that in a democratic country, there is no way to do it because you have the right to vote, which gives one person one vote.”

In response to these words of Innovation Committee Chairman Kim Eun-kyung, who mentioned a conversation with his middle school son in the past, the power of the people poured intensive fire.

″The Democratic Party is a party that has a long history of unspeakable remarks disparaging the elderly since the days of the Uri Party in 2004.″

″Former CEO Chung Dong-young said, “People in their 60s and 70s do not have to vote. He once said, “You can rest at home.” Also, Ryu Si-min said, “Brain rots when you reach your 60s”… ″

In connection with the story of the Democratic Party in the past, they called for Chairman Kim’s resignation and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myeong’s apology to the public.

In the midst of this, Rep. Yang Won-young defended Innovation Chairman Kim and apologized as the controversy grew, saying, “Many people who vote now are people who will not even be alive in the future.”

The Innovation Committee, which stated that it was only encouraging young people to participate in politics, and that driving the purpose of the remarks to disparage the elderly is an old-fashioned frame and a typical splitting technique, once once more clarified its position that it is not an issue to apologize for.

″I urge the power of the people not to divide generations. We will continue to drive innovation.”

The Democratic Party did not make an official position, but within the party, concerns regarding the repercussions of Chairman Kim’s remarks were also expressed.

″I really doubted my ears. Are they really the people who came to help our party in order to innovate it? As you said, it’s not just one or two tales now.”

While the proposals made following the launch of the Innovation Committee are causing controversy in some parts of the party, there is even a prospect that Chairman Kim’s remarks this time will lead to a weakening of the Innovation Committee’s power.
