Rated 18/20 in our columns, the game has, in our opinion, a good amount of different panoramas, intense gunfights and a dark atmosphere as desired. The first Max Payne in the saga was a small revolution in third-person action games. A revolution that can be summed up in two words: “bullet time”, a mechanism that allows the hero of Remedy to slow down time and jump forward, in order to avoid fire and annihilate his enemies. Currently on Steam, the game is offered at the bargain price of €5.99 instead of €19.99. A promotion not to be missed that will end on August 10th.
Without giving in to the “reboot” trend, Max Payne 3 is a real sequel that manages to change the game by embarking Max on a chaotic journey. Respectful of the codes of the franchise, this third opus revives its dark atmosphere, its tense gameplay whose relative classicism is largely compensated by a particularly mature story and not inclined to sentimentality.
