Mumbai: It has been reported that the India-Pakistan match in the ODI World Cup, which was hosted by India, has been shifted to October 14. The match was scheduled to be held on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But India Today reported that the match was decided to be held a day earlier. According to the report, the final decision regarding the date change will be made on Monday.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah had said last week that there is a possibility of a change in the schedule of the ODI World Cup following three cricket boards wrote to the ICC asking for a change in the format of the match. He added that the dates and timings of matches will be changed to reduce the interval between matches to 4-5 days. But he also clarified that there will be no change in terms of venues.

At the same time, the security agencies had asked the BCCI to change the date of the match citing security reasons in view of Navratri celebrations. The competition is on the first day of Navratri celebrations. As it is one of the major celebrations in Gujarat, the security agencies have suggested this keeping in mind the traffic in the city.

As the Ahmedabad stadium can accommodate around 100,000 spectators, there is an assessment that the influx of so many people from inside and outside India to watch the game during the rush of Navratri celebrations might lead to major security issues.
