The two weekends of the Tomorrowland festival, bereaved by two deaths, attracted some 400,000 visitors, despite the changing weather. The death of a 35-year-old visitor and the death last week of a 26-year-old member of staff aroused mixed feelings among organizers.
The festival ends on Sunday evening, with a new concert by DJ Martin Garrix.
For the organizers, the work is far from over, as the dismantling and cleaning maneuvers approach.
“On Monday morning, 38,000 people will leave the campsite. But we can say that so far everything has gone smoothly, as far as we were concerned. Unfortunately, we had to deal with two deaths,” commented festival spokesperson Debby Wilmsen.
The cause of death of the two people who died during the festival has not yet been determined, but the prosecution already suspects that one of the two victims, employed by the festival, is drug-related. Police carry out numerous checks on drug possession and trafficking in and around Tomorrowland every year, and organizers also say they do everything possible to educate visitors regarding what is allowed and what is not. isn’t, and for them to seek help if they have a problem, she said.
