Max Verstappen showed his superb side while calmly rolling as the leader of the Belgian Grand Prix on Lap 35 of 44 agreed. The answer was short and blunt from the Milton Keynes team: “No, not at this time”. This gesture was classified as “superb” by Michel Jourdain Jr., FOX Sports analyst during the broadcast.
Tense talks between Verstappen and Red Bull on the radio
The Belgian GP probably had its most “intriguing” situations with Max Verstappen’s talks on the radio with Gianpiero Lambiase, his engineer, who on a couple of occasions had some crosses, revealing some tension in the conversations.
First, Verstappen insisted that Lambiase tell him what Checo Pérez’s strategy was while he was leading the race, a position that Max assumed on Lap 17 to never let go once more.
“What is Checo going to do?” The Dutchman questioned the team, to which Lambiase responded bluntly: “You just follow my instructions.” “I just want to know what he is doing,” replied the two-time world champion.
The engineer then asked Max to be smarter on track regarding tire wear, considering the advantage he already had.
“These tires already suffered considerable degradation on their first use. I ask you to use your head a little more”, was Gianpiero’s message, followed by the pilot’s petulant proposal to make an extra stop as a simple test during the Grand Prix.

Ultimately, Verstappen crossed the checkered flag first, followed by Sergio Perez almost 30 seconds behind, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completing the podium this Sunday in the 12th Grand Prix of the season.
