In Europe, the number of asylum applications is increasing – in Austria it is falling every month

Vienna (OTS) “The asylum statistics for the first half of the year are solid proof of Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s successful asylum policy. Because: A reduction in applications by almost a third compared to the first half of 2022 is a fact and cannot be ignored by populists and extremists. The success is also visible when the numbers are compared with our European partner countries. In France and Spain, for example, asylum applications rose by almost half in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. In Germany we are even talking regarding an increase of 82%, and Italy recorded an increase of 63%. So we can see that the asylum brake, which Chancellor Nehammer and Interior Minister Karner have been consistently applying for months, is having an effect,” said the security spokesman and general secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker.

“Measures such as the end of visa-free travel for Indians and Tunisians in Serbia and the return agreements with India and Morocco have proven to be effective means of reducing the excessive burden on Austria in the area of asylum. Even if Kickl doesn’t want to admit it: The solution to the asylum crisis is not radicalism and division, but combating human smuggling, consistent controls in border areas, fast asylum procedures and international cooperation,” emphasizes the Secretary General and concludes as follows: “In any case, we can agree We are fortunate that in Karl Nehammer we have a chancellor who cares deeply regarding security in our country.”
