An 86-year-old father is said to have held a gun to his 51-year-old son’s forehead during an argument in Vienna and threatened to kill him. According to the son’s statements, his father also pulled the trigger on Saturday evening. Only the fuse prevented a shot from being fired. In the course of the scuffle in the shared house in Vienna-Donaustadt, the son is said to have managed to snatch the gun from his father, the police said on Sunday.
In the meantime, the 75-year-old mother of the alleged victim informed the executive. The police officers from the Donaustadt city police command found the two men on arrival in the garden shed of their family home, where the argument is said to have taken place. Both men suffered minor injuries in the scuffle and had to be treated by paramedics.
The 86-year-old was arrested. Officers also found that the handgun he used was unregistered. He was reported for illegal possession. However, the police also found a lot of illegal things on his son, who was banned from having a gun: Among other things, a crossbow, throwing stars, a combat knife and an air rifle. All items were secured.
During the interrogation, the father admitted that he had threatened his son. According to his own statements, he did not want to actually use the weapon. The police cited a long-simmering dispute within the family as the motive. The current trigger might have been the son’s handling of the father’s car.
