Under the intoxicating and unexpected heat of a Friday in May, Lafalaise Dion completed the final installations of its stand. From the terrace of the town hall of Plainpalais, in Geneva, a photo shoot is improvised. The presence of the Ivorian artist stands out remarkably. The long, ample raven-black boubou that she wears contrasts with her golden jewelry. An intense ray of sunlight pierces her face, giving her a majestic look. Self-proclaimed queen of the cowries, these small ecru shells that mainly make up her creations, Lafalaise Dion made the trip to the end of the lake to participate in the 6th edition of Afrodyssey. The festival celebrates the excellence of the African continent through the pool of creators that compose it. “It’s an opportunity to import our know-how to Switzerland, but also to connect with other artists,” she revels in.
