Friday is finally here, and there’s nothing better than sitting in front of the TV and watching a good movie right from the comfort of your home! Knowing this, we prepared a special list with options for all tastes in streaming. Check out 4 HBO Max movies to see this weekend!
Demon Death: The Ascension
In the new film of the Demon Death franchise, which became iconic in the hands of Sam Raimi, we see a family being massacred by an evil force. This can be considered a new horror classic, living up to the name it carries, maintaining the essence of the franchise while presenting originality in its own way. Causing more anguish than fear, the film intends to take away the tranquility of the public, appealing to an exaggerated gore and a lot of violence.
The great asset is that here all violence is justified within a general context, in addition to being well used. When we reach the end of the feature, there is no feeling that the bloodbath and grotesque scenes are just appealing elements, as everything works within the proposal. As we follow the family’s fight once morest an unstoppable evil force, and realize more and more that the situation has gotten completely out of control, we feel all the discomfort that production tries to pass, with a great direction by Lee Cronin.
65 – Prehistoric Threat
Released in theaters March 2023, 65 – Prehistoric Menace is now available to all HBO Max subscribers. With the direction of Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the feature cannot escape some clichés and certain questionable situations in the script, but still has enough to entertain the public. In the protagonist of the film we have Adam Drive, a renowned actor who has gained a lot of prominence in Hollywood with excellent roles in recent years. Driver is world-renowned for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise.
In ’65, we follow the story of a man who believes he has crash landed on an unknown planet by accident. After the tragedy, Mills, the pilot, ends up discovering that he is actually on Earth, only 65 million years ago. For those who like creatures, and especially dinosaurs, 65 offers a fight for survival in a totally inhospitable environment. Accompanied by Koa, a girl who also survived the accident, Mills must face the dinos while trying to protect the girl.
cold in the bones
Cold on the Bones is a great movie for anyone who likes a good nail-biting thriller. Released in 2023, directed by Matthias Hoene, the feature is one of the recent big names in the genre, despite having gone unnoticed by a large part of the public. With really surprising twists and a very large dose of tension, Frio nos Ossos manages to hold the audience’s attention from beginning to end.
When two suspicious men knock on a family’s door to seek refuge from a storm, we quickly think that the film will follow a pattern and visitors will be a threat. However, the film manages to captivate precisely because it relies on family conflicts, suspense and other elements to make the audience question who the real threat is.
Missing
Being another one of the releases on HBO Max in 2023, Missing was released in March of this year and is now available in the subscription service catalog. The long suspense and mystery is starring Storm Reid, who recently played Riley in the adaptation of The Last of Us made by HBO.
In Desaparecida, we see young June looking for answers to find out where her mother is, following she disappeared during a vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend. In Los Angeles, thousands of miles away, the girl uses technology to try to find out more regarding the case, and ends up discovering suspicious information and mysteries involving her mother and her boyfriend.
