Remco Evenepoel won for the 3rd time, following 2019 and 2022, the Clasica San Sebastian. The Belgian prodigy thus equals the Spaniard Marino Lejarreta, so far the only rider to have raised his arms three times in this event (1981, 1982, and 1987).

On a course of 230.8 kilometers offering a hilly course, the race settled 70 kilometers from the finish when certain favorites or outsiders decided to break away. Among these men, we can mention Romain Bardet, Pello Bilbao (6th in the last Tour de France), Aleksandr Vlasov and precisely Remco Evenepoel.

Despite the work of the UAE of outsiders Marc Hirschi and Juan Ayuso to try to come back to the breakaway, the gap continued to grow and the peloton was ultimately never able to come back to the leading men.

Evenepoel mate Bilbao au sprint

In the rise of Mendizorrotz (4.1 km at 7.3%), located 43 km from the finish, Evenepoel led a hellish train to let go of all his fellow travelers except Bilbao and Vlasov.

These three then explained themselves in the Murgil Tontorra (2.1 km at 9.9%), 9.5 km from the finish. Vlasov finally let go, Bilbao, supported by the public, hung on, but he had to admit defeat in the sprint once morest Evenepoel.
