A total of 26 professional footballers trained in top form for new clubs
Vienna (OTS) – After six weeks of intensive training, professional support and individual career advice, the “Back to the Game Camp” 2023 came to an end yesterday. The training camp organized by younion _ Die Daseinsgewerkschaft, KADA – Sport mit Perspektive and AMS this year accompanied 26 professional soccer players in their search for their next career station.
A third of the participating players have already found a new club. These are Nico Grubor (ASK Klagenfurt), Stephan Schimandl (ASV Draßburg), Denis Bosnjak (Hegelmann), Christoph Halper (DSV Leoben), Julian Turi (DSV Leoben), Valerian Hüttner (Vorwarts Steyr), Stephan Auer (ASV Siegendorf), Silvio Apollonio (SKU Amstetten) and Bright Edomwonyi (Diósgyőri VTK). Most of the other players are also in promising contract negotiations. “The quality of the camp led by our head coach Rene Poms was extraordinarily high. All participants are physically in top condition and ready for new tasks at a professional club in Austria or even abroad,” says Thomas Pichlmann, project manager of the younion sports union.
The camp enabled the players, despite being without a club, to do professional pre-season training as part of a team and thus remain visible to scouts from interested clubs. “The younion camp offered me and my colleagues ideal conditions to stay fit and even develop further in some areas. I would not have achieved that in individual training at home. Now I’m in top form for trial training,” said former SKN St. Pölten and SK Sturm Graz player Sandro Ingolitsch on behalf of all camp participants.
The sporting offer of the “Back to the Game” camp was rounded off by career advice from KADA. Personal consultations helped the players to deal with their professional prospects following their football career. The range of advisory services offered by KADA at the camp ranged from information on further training opportunities parallel to professional football through to support with concrete entry scenarios into the job market.
“(Vocational) training is independent of the success of a sports career and is important for personality development and financial security. Our team is excited to stay in touch with many players beyond camp and to support them as they continue to tinker with their future plans. We hope to have moved something in the players in the long term and wish them all the best for the future,” sums up Dominik Siedlaczek, Head of Career Advice at KADA.
With the positive balance of the camp, a big thank you goes to the committed support team. “The coaches and supervisors did an outstanding job. Their dedication, together with the commitment of the participants, who gave their all despite the great heat, were the key to the success of this camp,” emphasizes Thomas Pichlmann.
With this year’s “Back to the Game Camp” coming to an end, the younion sports union and KADA are already looking ahead to next year, when the camp will now be in its tenth edition.
