The Walloon Brabant firefighters were called to intervene, Thursday morning at 3:25 a.m., on the site of the AD Delhaize store, along the Chaussée de Huy, in Chaumont-Gistoux. A violent fire had broken out there. When they arrived at the scene, the wooden building was completely ablaze.
Due to the scale of the disaster, the medium red plan was triggered. Reinforcements were immediately called in from the barracks of Éghezée, Gembloux and Overijse. The administrative premises of the Hospitality establishments and the builder T.Palm, as well as the facilities of the Fitness Village and the Institut 1.325 beauty center also suffered a total loss.

The fire caused no casualties. According to RTBF, a judge has been instructed to shed light on these events. The criminal track is currently privileged an investigation for “arson at night with presumption of human presence” having been opened.
