Even if the investigation promised to be extremely difficult, it only took a few hours for the sleuths of the PJF in Liège to get their hands on a man suspected of being the one who dismembered a young woman and before putting arms and legs in a fridge and throwing the device into the Albert Canal. The man was arrested this Thursday morning in Grace-Hollogne. At the time of writing these lines, he was heard by the investigators and should logically be brought before the investigating judge in charge of the case on Friday.
As a reminder, on Tuesday a walker who was strolling along the Meuse in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau had his attention drawn to a fridge floating on the waters of the Albert Canal. Curious, the man managed to bring the device back to shore. Then saw the pestilential smell that emanated from it, the man preferred to call the police.
In court on Friday
Once the police were there, the decision was made to open the fridge and discover the horror inside: two arms, two legs of human origin.
Warned, the Liège prosecutor’s office confirmed the information, adding that the four members belonged to the same person, probably a young woman. An investigating judge was immediately seized to carry out an investigation that was announced to be difficult. We did not know where the fridge came from, if it had been transported by car, or even by boat before being launched.
We just knew that the fingernails were varnished and that the “dismemberment” dated back a few days, two to three weeks at most.
Despite these unfavorable elements, the investigation has made great strides.
The Liège public prosecutor’s office confirmed our information, explaining however that it did not want to comment before the suspect was heard by the investigating magistrate. We should know more by Friday followingnoon.
