Cillian Murphy feeling grateful for not succeeding in portraying the character Batman in the director’s The Dark Knight trilogy Christopher Nolan.
It felt Christian Bale is the most appropriate actor to portray the character.
“Yeah, I think that’s for the best because we get to see Christian Bale perform which I think his interpretation is extraordinary,” said Cillian Murphy when interviewed GQ on Monday (24/7).
Cillian Murphy was invited by Christopher Nolan to join the process casting the character of Bruce Wayne as well as Batman when the director was regarding to work on Batman Begins (2005).
Murphy even took the trial test complete with Bruce Wayne and Batman costumes.
Unfortunately, the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman did not go to Cillian Murphy, but to Christian Bale. However, Nolan offers another character to Murphy, namely Jonathan Crane alias Scarecrow.
Murphy still feels grateful that he didn’t get the Batman character. Because, according to him, Christian Bale’s physique is better suited for the role of Batman than he is.
“I never considered myself to have the right physical specimen for Batman,” he said. “For me, [Batman] it always will be [milik] Christian Bale.”
On the other hand, Christian Bale admits that he was underestimated when he was seriously approached to play Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy.
At the time, Bale said that many people laughed at him and were skeptical when he first told this news to others.
“Lots of people then laughed at me and said, ‘That’s not going to work,'” he added.
In the end he was officially appointed as Bruce Wayne alias Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy which began with Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
Thanks to his achievements as Batman, Bale feels very proud and happy because he can prove that he is the last person to laugh.
