Sources close to FC Barcelona have denied reports that the club discussed Kylian Mbappé with PSG on Monday.
On Monday, the French media were inundated with information regarding Kylian Mbappé’s future. Not only have PSG accepted a record-breaking offer from Saudi Arabia and Al Hilal for Mbappe, but the French club are also open to a loan.
Meanwhile, Barcelona were one of several teams, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Inter, to have reportedly contacted PSG over a deal.
FC Barcelona staff initially laughed at this information internally, while sources told MD that there was no interest from them, and they did not release this ‘information’. Obviously, Barcelona’s economic situation doesn’t allow them to compete for Mbappé’s signature, although president Joan Laporta would no doubt like to do so.
The theory is that PSG are trying to create a sense of urgency within Real Madrid to force him to act this summer with an offer, rather than trying to wait until next summer and sign him for free. Still, the only real interest seems to come from Saudi Arabia, a country that doesn’t interest Mbappe anyway.
