The DLS Archer oil services firm exposed the critical situation that companies in the hydrocarbon sector are experiencing. They pointed out that “the current context of import restrictions” generates complications for the supply of key inputs to sustain the activity. They assured that the continuity of 50 jobs is in danger.

«There are real complications that Oil&Gas companies have to face in relation to the provision of essential inputs to maintain their activity and to venture into new investments or continue with those already started”, they stressed.

The firm made an investment of around 5 million dollars and had to suspend conditioning work and subsequent commissioning of “a state-of-the-art drilling rig – in addition to those already working in Vaca Muerta – which was scheduled for September of this year, with 50 jobs at risk of continuity“, they marked.

Currently, the company has eight drilling rigs in operation at Vaca Muerta. However, they expressed that “concern is growing regarding the risk of having to suspend it if it is not possible to reverse the aforementioned situation«.

The lack of approval of the Import System of the Argentine Republic (SIRA), and the consequent impossibility of withdrawing imported items from Customs, are the main causes. They directly affect oil service companies, which are essential for the operation and development of the industry as a whole«, they explained.

In this context of deep uncertainty, the long-awaited development of Vaca Muerta is being jeopardized and many companies in the industry are beginning to express their impossibility of guaranteeing operations in the short term.
