According to CCTV news reports, on July 24, MSC 6000TEU container ship No. 1 was named and delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou. The ship has a length of 366 meters, a molded width of 51 meters, a molded depth of 30.2 meters, and a design draft of 14.5 meters. It can carry up to 16,616 standard containers. It is currently the largest container ship built in southern China. It is named “Noah Alila”. In order to ensure the strength of the hull, technical problems such as cutting and welding of crack arresting steel and automatic welding of crack arresting steel by robots have been overcome during the construction of the ship.

Xu Yinsheng, deputy manager of China Shipbuilding International’s 16,000 TEU container ship project, said that an 85 mm (8.5 cm) thick crack arresting steel was used during construction. This steel plate is unique to a container ship because the structural requirements of the container ship are relatively high. The 85 mm thick crack arresting steel can greatly enhance the structural strength of the ship.

At the same time, as the latest generation of large container ships, the ship is equipped with a desulfurization and denitrification system to meet the latest environmental emission standards. It is also equipped with a world-leading air drag reduction system, which can reduce navigation resistance and effectively improve fuel efficiency.
