Solitario Resources Corp, a junior mining company that explores the Bongará zinc deposit (called Cañón de Florida) together with Nexa Resources, reported that the drilling of 4,000 meters of said deposit, in Amazonas, is scheduled for mid-August. The company announced that additional drilling may be carried out in other areas.

As recalled, Nexa Resources signed a community agreement that allows exploration until the end of 2025. This paves the way for the completion of road access in favor of local communities.

The junior miner said that the necessary permits to significantly expand the area to be drilled in 2024 and beyond are almost complete. This will allow the area allowed to be drilled to be expanded by approximately 500%.
Specifically, more than 80 new sites are planned to be drilled in areas to the south, east and southeast of the Cañón de Florida deposit. “It is important to move the project forward following the significant impacts that Covid-19 has had on our work schedules over the past few years,” said Solitario President and CEO Chris Herald.

The Cañón de Florida zinc project is a joint venture between Solitario (39%) and Nexa Resources (61%). It has an indicated resource of 2.4 million tons with a grade of 10.62% zinc; 1.33% lead and 15 grams per ton of silver, and an additional 14.9 million tons of inferred resources grading 9.63% zinc.
