The luxury house, which includes Australian actress and producer Margot Robbie in its portfolio of ambassadors, reveals that it has imagined several looks for the film, currently in theaters.
Chanel and fashion Barbiecore
Released on the big screen a few days ago, the film “Barbie” by director Greta Gerwig has sparked an avalanche of candy-pink – more or less literal – references within brands. From the Dior pop-up to the reminiscences of the collaboration between Mattel and Balmain, summer 2023 is adorned with acid shades and pop details.
This aesthetic has not escaped Chanel when the label, with the support of its artistic director Virginie Viard, indicates that it has collaborated with the film crew to compose five silhouettes.

Here, costume designer Jacqueline Durran received a selection of pieces from the Prêt à porter, Coco Beach and Coco Neige collections. Clothing, jewellery, bags and accessories: this unique wardrobe gives pride of place to pastel shades and also presents some archive pieces like a tweed suit worn by top model Claudia Schiffer in the mid-1990s.
“Breaking with conventions, “Barbie” is an ambitious project, showing humor and fantasy, tackling topical issues with irreverence and intelligence”underlines the Maison de la rue Cambon in a note of intent.

Chanel and Cinema
This initiative is part of Chanel and Cinema which brings together the brand’s various projects around the film industry.
In addition to a recent series of conversations recorded during the last Cannes Film Festival, Chanel also indicated last May that it had participated in the film “Jeanne du Barry” signed by the director Maïwenn. For the occasion, the brand had imagined six costumes inspired by 18th century silhouettes. Exclusive partner of the film, Chanel was also involved in make-up and accessorizing with, in particular, the loan of several pieces from its Haute Joaillerie collections.
